Description

This avatar was my first major Unity Editor project, and was born from a desire to fix a model I had found so that it would work with full-body tracking. Eggman has required an extensive number of changes and has gone through a multitude of iterations and retextures, and was the testbed for much that I now know of Unity’s Editor.

Eggman 2022 is a personalized version of Dr. Eggman from Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.  He has been completely re-textured with Substance Painter, has had his rigging completely re-done from scratch, and has had extensive fixes done to his weight painting and blendshapes.

  • Completely brand-new rigging and weight-painting (some of it was done by a friend, whom I paid after his exhaustive help)
  • Brand-new blendshapes for speech visemes
  • Completely redone UVs to permit baked PBR materials
  • Optimized and fixed geometry
  • Hand-painted and procedural PBR materials using Substance Painter
  • UV map packed by UVPackmaster 2
  • Small customizations, such as physbone’d mustache and coat-tails, and a tattoo on the neck.
  • Numerous optimizations from the original content.
